Uriah Benedict and daughter Emeline and family.
Per Tod: Tod’s fourth-great-grandfather Uriah Benedict (1783–1877) and his daughter Emeline (1819–1905), with her son Henry North Hanford (1847–1920), who is holding his and his wife’s (Ellen’s) son Clarence Dayton Hanford (1875–1944), who had been born on June 12.
The Hanfords’ only two sons were born in 1844 and 1847, so this photo was taken in one of those two years. Pretty early portrait, given that the first photography studio in the US (anywhere?) opened in NYC in March 1840; they lived in Cayuga Co., NY.
